A look at the collection of the Frac des Pays de la Loire offers a sensitive and poetic journey through the collection via a dual presentation in Carquefou and Nantes. The exhibition draws on a selection of recent acquisitions placed in dialogue with historical works from the collection.
The exhibition unfolds as both a real and imagined evocation of the landscape and its elements. On one side the ocean, on the other the river; here salt, there earth: Jardin du Sel (2011) and La Source de la Loire (2020), two previously unseen films by experimental filmmaker Rose Lowder, set the tone for each part of the exhibition.
From the birdsong that closes the fifteen minutes of Rose Lowder’s film, we perceive a particular attentiveness to the environment, a sensibility shared by all the artists presented in this dual display.
On the occasion of its fortieth anniversary, La Source projects the Frac des Pays de la Loire into a contemplative introspection. The project is embodied in the ecosystem of the Frac itself, close to water and nature — in tune with the landscapes that surround it, a place of memory and of multiple metamorphoses
