At that time in the 1980s I was preoccupied with the music of Beethoven, especially his late string quartets. I somehow couldn’t help feeling that Opus… had some connection to the experience of listening intensely to this music. The only visual reference to anything concerning the music itself are the blue silhouettes on the left-hand side, which are based on the hearing aids that Beethoven had made for him when he was starting to lose his hearing and would quickly become almost totally deaf.
