Atelier Sketch
"I had an atelier in an old school building where all the corners were full of cobwebs. I was working there sometimes continuously on a piece followed by a long absences. That is when it crossed my mind and there is always activity going on there, by the cobwebs where the spiders are busy day and night. Therefor I started collecting the cobwebs, trying to trap them between two glass
plates and they became a regular addition to the art making in my atelier. They were titled atelier sketches, this started around 1990 and is an ongoing project although with
some disruptions. For example at a certain point we all had to leave this old school building. Another school building was found for us but that one had been completely renovated. This meant no cobwebs, because I guess freshly painted houses are repulsive to spiders. The new studio was an extremely good development for my work in general. A lot of space with great light
but the spiders went on strike for a couple of vears."
